Vivianne Whalen was raised in Akron, Ohio. She graduated from Our Lady of the Elms High School and then went on to earn her bachelor of science from the Ohio State University. She received her law degree from the University of Akron. She is licensed to practice law in Ohio and California.
Attorney Whalen started her legal career as a criminal prosecutor for the City of Canton. She then went on to the Stark County Prosecutor's Office where she prosecuted felony cases. She transitioned to the Civil Division of the Stark County Prosecutor's Office as a litigator. Ms. Whalen began her private practice after her initial time with the Stark County Prosecutor's Office. She concentrated on personal injury litigation while working and gaining experience with Attorneys John Coury (Ret.) and Michael Demchak. She went on to co-found Whalen Duffrin LLC.
Attorney Whalen works out of the Canton Office and concentrates on cases involving auto accidents and peronal injuries. Many of her cases are referrals from other attorneys who have confidence in her skills. She has had seven-figure judgments. She is a past president of the Stark County Association for Justice.
Her other area of practice is labor and employment law. Ms. Whalen served as in-house counsel for the Stark County Sheriff's Office. While at the Sheriff's Office she honed her skills in labor and employment law. She gained valuable experience with labor negotiations, grievences, and labor arbitration. She has experience before the State Employment Relations Board, the State Personnel Board of Review, the National Labor Relations Board, and the Merit System Protection Board. She is currently serving on the City of Green's Civil Service Commission and has been doing so since 2010.
